AFFILIATIONS
I currently hold appointments at several academic and not-for-profit institutions, from which I serve the community and promote evidence-based research and projects.
I am an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia, I collaborate with academic colleagues on scientific knowledge generation and synthesis on various health topics and explore the use of AI-enabled technologies for aggregating, visualizing and interpreting real-world data.
I am an Adjunct Professor at Boston Children’s Hospital’s Computational Epidemiology Lab, where I lead research on the use of social media for consumer education about key health topics, and I bridge entrepreneurial technologies to the Innovation and Digital Health Accelerator.
I am Strategic Advisor to Frontier Collective, a coalition of leaders in technology that are representing and advancing the interests of Vancouver's fastest-growing technologies, including Web3, the metaverse, VR/AR, robotics, ag-tech, bio-tech, computer vision, connected systems, artificial intelligence, climate tech, and arts and culture.
I was co-selected by the United Nations World Food Programme Global Impact Challenge to attend Singularity University at NASA Ames Research Park, Mountain View, CA. Along with 90 entrepreneurs from 42 countries, she graduated from an immersive 9-week Global Solutions Program about the use of exponential technologies to positively impact 1 Billion lives. I co-launched Singularity University‘s Vancouver Chapter, which convenes local corporate and entrepreneurial thought-leaders to exchange the latest insights about technologies that can solve the world’s grand challenges.
APHA speaks out on public health issues and advocates for policies backed by science. As a Member of the International Health Section Leadership Team, I have promoted knowledge transfer of emerging evidence for public health interventions; performed scientific peer-review of annual APHA conference abstracts; and served as an advocate for the development of technical and scientific d approaches to international and global health research.
I started my career in global health with the international humanitarian agency Doctors Without Borders. As an Association Member, I continue to promote the neutral, impartial, and independent delivery of medical aid to populations facing violence, neglect, natural disasters, and epidemics. In alignment with Doctors’ Without Borders’ mission of ‘témoignage’ or bearing witness, I use my work as a scientist and entrepreneur to raise awareness about human rights abuses and the need for humanitarian aid to protect life and restore dignity among populations in need.
